Worshipful Brother Anthony Grummitt

Dear Brethren,

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing to the Grand Lodge above of Worshipful Brother and Comp Anthony Grummitt PProvJGW on 30th of December 2025 (89).

Tony was initiated on the 7th of February 1979 in Elstow Lodge L8759. He was installed as Master in 1989 and served as Chaplain from 2001 – 2006, 2010 – 2013 and 2015 – 2020.

In 1984 he was a founder member of Veritas Lodge L9108, resigning in 1990.

Brother Tony was Exalted in Ampthill Chapter C2490 on the 16th of March 1987, resigning in 2000.

W Bro Tony’s first Provincial rank came in 1995 as PProvAGDC, in 2001 PProvGSuptWks and PProvGReg in 2008, and finally in 2016 promoted to PProvJGW.  

Bro Tony served the Province for 46 years in the Craft and Royal Arch Chapter for 38 years.

Tony had been suffering with poor health for some years. This severely restricted his mobility and he was unable to attend Lodge in the latter years.  In recognition of his many years of service to Elstow Lodge Tony was made an Honorary member in 2022. Tony was receiving palliative care in a local care home where he passed away peacefully.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his Wife Anne and the family at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card for the family on behalf of all Brethren and the Province.
