Lovells Bury Lodge Christmas / New Year Golf Day!

“Oh to be in England now that Golf is here”.

Tuesday 30 December 2025 proved to be an auspicious occasion for the golfing brethren of Lovells Bury Lodge, marking the first Christmas / New Year Golf Day—an event that may well become an annual fixture.

Members and guests gathered at Clapham (Bedford) Golf Course at 09:00  fortifying themselves with bacon rolls, tea and coffee before proceedings became more serious at around 10:00, when scorecards were issued and teams set off onto the course in fine, albeit cold conditions.

The field represented a wide range of golfing ability, from complete novices to those with considerable experience. Throughout the morning there was no shortage of discussion on foot placement, angles of attack, swing technique and other suitably “golf-centric” terminology.

As expected, the good-natured, banter-filled advice had limited impact on those for whom simply making contact with the ball with the correct end of the club was considered a notable success!

On completion of all 18 holes—and with no serious mishaps involving bunkers, ditches or ponds—the participants reconvened in the clubhouse. Judging by the laughter, camaraderie and good humour on display, it was unanimously agreed by all, including our very welcome guests, that the day had been thoroughly enjoyable.

Sincere thanks are extended to  Adam Wilson for yet another excellent demonstration of his organisational skills and goodwill in arranging such a successful event.
