The 2025 Annual Martin Foss Award
On Friday 24th January, the Second Provincial Grand Principal, Martin Wilson, accompanied by the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, Steve Joyce attended the Graduation Ceremony for the School of Healthcare Practise at Bedfordshire University to present the Bedfordshire Freemasons’ Martin Foss Award.
This is awarded to the year’s outstanding Midwifery graduate, selected by the University, and is accompanied by a Certificate and Cheque for £500.
Also attending the ceremony, in his official capacity, was the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, W. Bro. Bav Shah.
The award this year went to Louisa King who told us that, following graduation, she will be starting her career as a Midwife at Milton Keynes Hospital. Louisa’s award citation, read out during the ceremony, reads as follows:-
“Over the past year, the recipient of this award has faced a great deal of personal tragedy. Despite this, Louisa has remained determined to fulfil her dream of becoming a midwife. She has supported her family through adversity and remains a strong role model for her children, peers and colleagues. Louisa has been praised for her professionalism, dedication and determination in completing her midwifery education. She has advocated well for herself and continues to be a strong advocate for the women and their families she cares for.”
