Bedfordshire Freemasons Reach Out to the U3A Luton Historical Group

On a very warm(!) Tuesday 11 August, Bedfordshire Freemasons Tony Green and  Ian Church were invited to give a presentation to the U3A Luton Historical Group on the history of Freemasonry.

The presentation covered the history of Freemasonry in general, the development of Freemasonry in Bedfordshire, and the way in which Freemasonry continues to engage with and support the wider community.

The invitation was facilitated by a fellow Bedfordshire Freemason Nigel Thrale, a member of the group, and the presentation was very well received.

As a generous gesture of appreciation, the group made a donation which has been applied to the 2026 Bedfordshire Masonic Festival.

This is believed to be the first time that such a presentation about Freemasonry has been delivered to a community group in this way, providing an excellent opportunity to share our history, explain our role within the community and help dispel some of the misconceptions surrounding Freemasonry.

It was a positive and engaging evening, and an excellent example of how open dialogue can help strengthen the relationship between Freemasonry and the wider community, and a thankyou card was received in appreciation!
