Leighton Cross and Beda Provide Help for the Scout Hut
Many parts of Bedfordshire have been adversely impacted by the recent flooding and this includes the Scout Hut used by the aptly named Riverside Church Scout Group in Leighton Buzzard. Both the building and equipment were damaged by floodwater, resulting in an appeal for emergency funding by the Group. One local lodge, Leighton Cross, got to hear of the appeal and that they were £300 short of the funds needed to get the Hut operational again.
Gary Albert of Leighton Cross and John Hawkins of Leighton Cross and the Beda Chapter of the Widow’s Sons visited the clean-up operation and were pleased to immediately make up the funding shortfall with joint donations from the Lodge and Beda.
Paul Casey, Chair of the Riverside Scout Group, commented: “It is quite wonderful that local groups and particularly Bedfordshire Freemasons have stepped up to assist us. I hope that I can thank them personally at a future meeting”.
