Brother Antony William Shaw

Dear Brethren

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the sudden passing to the Grand Lodge above Brother and Companion Antony William Shaw on 15th of September 2026 (59).

Tony was initiated on the 25th of February 2013 in Lakeside Lodge L9869 (Cyprus) resigning in 2016.

In 2016 he joined the Rectitude Lodge L4383 (Yorks. WR) and appointed Junior Deacon in 2019, he resigned in 2022. In 2017 he joined Essex Border Lodge L9427 (Essex) and was appointed as Senior Deacon in 2017, he resigned 2018.

Tony joined Roger de Somery Rugby Lodge L6488 in 2021,and was appointed Junior Warden in 2021, he served as a Steward in 2025.

Brother Tony was exalted on 15th March 2016 into Wakefield Chapter C495 (Yorks. WR) he was appointed Second Assistant Sojourner 2018, resigning in 2022.

Comp Tony was Installed as a Knight in Chantry Preceptory KT214 (Wakefield) in 2017.

Bro Tony was very active in life and careers, he served in the military, a prison officer, and an advanced blue light driving instructor which meant he had to work and travel away regularly.

Unexpectedly he was diagnosed with cancer less than two months ago which was aggressive. Sadly, the cancer spread, and Tony’s health deteriorated. He passed peacefully at home with his wife and family around him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Paula, family, and friends at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card to the family on behalf of yourself and the province.
