Bedfordshire Freemasons Complete Phase 2 of Disability and Inclusion Review

Bedfordshire Freemasons have now completed Phase 2 of their review of the Province’s Masonic Disability and Inclusion Policy.

Following the earlier work undertaken to review accessibility at our Masonic Centres, the second phase has focused on ensuring that our ceremonies can be made as accessible and inclusive as possible for all Brethren and Companions.

The team has produced a series of guidelines and practical templates to support Lodges and Chapters when considering adaptations for the Ceremonies of Initiation, Passing and Raising, together with Royal Arch Exaltation.

These documents have now been completed, reviewed by the team and are available to members in the Members’ Area.

Phase 1 of the review, completed earlier this year, concentrated on the accessibility of Bedfordshire’s Masonic Centres. Together, the two phases represent an important step in supporting Lodges and Chapters to ensure that no Brother or Companion is unnecessarily excluded from participating fully in their Masonic journey.

The team, pictured at one of their regular breakfast meetings, is:

  • Chairman: Assistant Provincial Grand Master S. P. Attwood
  • Provincial Grand Almoner: Mike Fitz-Gerald
  • Provincial Superintendent of Works: David Tolfield
  •  Adrian Stammers: Disability Officer for Luton, Dunstable and Ampthill
  •  Snowy Dyson: Disability Officer for Biggleswade, Leighton Buzzard and Bedford

Special thanks to  Paul Smethurst for his help in assisting us with the ceremonies .
