A “Royal” Evening at Bedfordshire First Principals’ Chapter

The recent Convocation and Election Meeting of the First Principals’ Chapter, was presided over by Terry Thurley due to the unavoidable absence of Bob Curson, welcoming the Deputy Grand Superintendent, Barrie House.

The business of the evening saw Tony Henderson elected as First Principal, in succession to Bob Curson, also elected  Steve Joyce as Second Principal and Tom Trowles as Third Principal.

The Chapter also continued its growth, with seven joining Companions successfully balloted for and welcomed into membership.

Following the business of the evening, Companions enjoyed a fascinating and entertaining presentation by E. Comp Mike O’Keefe entitled “What is a Royal Warrant?”

Drawing on more than 40 years of service within the Royal Household as a Royal Warrant Holder, Mike provided a unique insight into the history and evolution of Royal Warrants, from their origins in the 12th century through to the present day. Delivered with his trademark wit and enthusiasm, the talk really did captivate the audience, prompting so many questions that the discussion could easily have continued long beyond the allotted time.

The evening proved to be an excellent combination of Chapter business, good news on membership  and an excellent talk.
