Gary Meets the Challenge Head-On
This weekend Gary Jones, the current Master of Roger de Somery Rugby Lodge 6488 continued his quest to raise money for a cause close to his heart. Having been diagnosed with life limiting blood cancer five years ago, rather than sit back and accept the inevitable Gary has chosen to face his illness head-on saying “Like every adversity in life, my illness is no different to any other challenge and should be treated just the same”
On Saturday 30th March, Gary completed the Houghton Hall Park Run. Before the event, he was interviewed by Jason Dealey from Three Counties Radio and given a warm reception by all the other runners and spectators. He was joined on the starting line by family, friends, well-wishers and participants of the 5kM event. Walking at a steady pace, Gary completed the course in one hour and 15 minutes, with many people staying to see him reach the finish line.
Gary has smashed his target to raise £500 for Blood Cancer UK, the total currently stands at £1720 and he sends a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored him.
