2026 Bedfordshire Games for Teenagers and Adults with Learning Difficlties
The 37th Bedfordshire Games once again provided a wonderful day of sport, friendship and achievement for people with learning disabilities from across the county.
The Games took place on 7 July at a sun-soaked Bedford Athletics Stadium, where competitors, volunteers and supporters enjoyed a fantastic day of sport despite the very warm conditions.
The Province was proudly represented by Steve Joyce, Charity Steward, who assisted with the presentation of individual prizes throughout the day.
At the close of the Games, Steve had the privilege of presenting the Province’s shield – the Bedfordshire Freemasons Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship – to the deserving team from Ivel Valley College. This prestigious shield is one of only four special awards presented during the event and recognises exceptional sporting spirit and teamwork.
Reflecting on the day, Steve said:
“It is always a great privilege to be involved in this wonderful event. The enthusiasm and sheer joy shown by the competitors is inspiring to witness. Our shield, one of only four special awards presented, was particularly warmly received.”
Supported by volunteers, organisers and Bedfordshire Freemasons, the event celebrated inclusion, confidence and community spirit, ensuring every participant enjoyed a memorable and rewarding experience.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in making the Games such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.
