Brother Steven Ashby-Howe

Dear Brethren,

It is with sadness that I inform you of the sudden passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother and E Comp Steven Ashby-Howe PProvSGD on 16th of June 2026 (70).

Steven was Initiated on the 28th of November 2002 in the Old Lutonians Lodge L7408, he installed as Master in 2008, Tyler in 2010, and appointed Charity Steward 2011 – 2021.

He became a joining member of Martin Foss Lodge of Research L9722 in 2011, resigning in 2015.

Steven was Exalted in Bedfordshire School Chapter C5974 on 16th of September 2005, installed as Haggai in 2015, then resigning in 2016.

His first Provincial Craft appointment came in 2013 as PPrAGDC and later promotion to PPrSGD in 2018.

Steven had been living with diabetes for some time but still managed to attend meetings regularly. He was a very accomplished Magician and member of the Magic Circle; he was also for many years a local entertainer.

Very sadly and unexpectedly Steven passed away at home. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.

He served Bedfordshire freemasonry  for 24 years in the Craft and Royal Arch Chapter 20 years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card to the family on behalf of yourself and the province.
