W Brother Ronald Sydney Almond
Dear Brethren,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother Ronald Sydney Almond, PPrJGD on the 26th of January 2024 (77)
Ronald, better known as Ron, was Initiated on the 16th of June 1982 into Lodge Erin L463, in Hong Kong, the Inspectorate District of the Far East and then Passed on 21st July 1982.
Ron served in the Royal Navy most of his adult life, gaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. On returning to the UK from the Far East, keen to continue his Masonic journey, he chose Hermes Lodge L5532 and following a request by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Hermes Lodge Raised Bro Ron on 11th November 1983. Following his Raising Ron joined Hermes Lodge L5532 in 1986.
Brother Ron joined Lovells Bury Lodge L4018 in 2011 and was installed as Master in 2017. He was appointed to PPrJGD in 2022.
Bro Ron was Exalted into Ampthill Chapter C2490 16th March 2015 and held the offices of Second, First and Principal Sojourner.
Worshipful brother Ron suffered from Parkinson’s disease, restricting his physical capabilities but not his keen mind and sense of humour. Ron was sadly admitted to hospital where he passed away peacefully.
I shall be sending his wife Shelagh and family a condolences card on behalf of you, the Executive and Brethren.
