The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at The Pavilion, Luton
A Jubilee party was held on Friday 3rd June to Celebrate her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne. The celebrations were supported by brethren from across the province, with well over 120 friends, families and neighbours from the community in attendance. We were blessed with a perfect day of sunshine.
Music spanning 70 years (well nearly!) of the reign of the Queen was blasted through the sound system as queues started forming from the minute the BBQ started. Samosas and Bhajias were at the ready to wash down with few cold beers and the children were well occupied in the games area with mini football, golf nets, giant dominoes and croquet.
The event was supported by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, the Provincial Grand Secretary and the Provincial Grand Senior Warden who spoke on behalf of the Provincial Grand Master, proposed a toast to Her Majesty the Queen which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
A tour of the Main Temple was led by Bro. Abs Lalji for quite few young masons as well as curious non-masons, with very positive feedback.
With raffle prizes including a hamper (fit for a Queen), and a bottle of single malt whiskey amongst many others, it was not surprising it raised over £380.00!
All in all, it was a successful and positive event with positive feedback still rolling in – an event like this would not have been possible without the support from members of Cumberland Lodge, Bedfordshire Light Blues Club and Luton Masonic Hall Company.
