Success Again for the Bedfordshire Bowlers
During mid-August, 20 teams from Provinces around the country entered the tenth MACE (Masonic Annual Charity Event) Tournament, which this year was held at Watford. Bedfordshire entered two teams, both enjoying great success with one team winning the event and the other coming third. The biggest winner however was charity, with almost £70,000 being raised for good causes over the period of the ten events.
Next year’s M.A.C.E will take place in Selby, Yorkshire. With a fair wind and a bit of luck we can try and achieve the same, which will make it a hat trick of winning this tournament. Many thanks to Diane Timms who stepped in at the last moment as a replacement.
In late August, Bedfordshire played Cambridgeshire at Flitwick Bowls Club, where a great day was had by all. We held a raffle and an auction at this event and raised £170 for charity. We also have a game arranged at Aston Clinton in late September, where we are playing against Buckinghamshire for a fun afternoon.
This year’s bowling season has almost finished. However, we are always looking for new members to join us to help fulfil the planned fixtures. To find out more, email Gary Bloxham at jeanbloxham1954@gmail.com
