Sofa so Good
When I put out a message on the Lovells Bury Lodge WhatsApp group asking for a volunteer with a van, I didn’t expect to get a reply within minutes, let alone two rugby playing brethren to help.
I had been asked by two elderly widows if I knew anyone who would be able to take furniture to the dump, as fire regulations meant it was not possible to give it away. They were not widows in distress but they were certainly widows in need.
True to their word, Brothers Adam Wilson and Chris Day (next year’s Senior and Junior Wardens) turned up, loaded up and earned vital cash donations to go towards our 2026 Festival Lodge target. Whilst this was an exemplum of the kindness of masons, for me, the greatest thing was to be able to shake hands, have a laugh and be with my brothers once again. I am so grateful to them.
