Pauls “Swan in Flight” Captures the Spirit of the Great Ouse
Paul Pibworth, a Past Master of Ivel Lodge No 6846, was in attendance earlier this month when a key piece of sculpture that he had crafted was unveiled, at Kempston Library, by the Mayor of Kempston, Cllr Mohammed Nawaz.
Paul is a sculptor and artist from Potton and was recently commissioned by Bedford Creative Arts to lead some special assemblies in schools across Kempston for their “River, Flow, Connect” community project.
His brief was to engage people on the subject of the River Great Ouse in Kempston, with thoughts, words and emotions that the river and surrounding area evoke. They were recorded and have been represented by engraving on the Aluminium surface of our swan, which is named Bolan.
The sculpture, which is hoped to be the first of many to be installed along the banks of the Great Ouse in Kempston, is designed to inspire children and adults to consider the beauty of the river as it flows through Kempston.
