Martin Foss Annual Award 2026

On Wednesday 21st January, Martin Wilson, accompanied by Steve Joyce, representing Bedfordshire Freemasons, attended the Graduation Ceremony for the School of Healthcare Practice at the University of Bedfordshire to present the Bedfordshire Freemasons’ Martin Foss Award.

This annual award is presented to the year’s outstanding Midwifery graduate, selected by the University, and is accompanied by a certificate and a cheque for £500.

The award for 2025 was presented to Kirsty Sarney, who shared that, following her graduation, she will be commencing her career as a Midwife at Bedford Hospital.

Kirsty’s award citation, read during the ceremony, stated:

Kirsty received the award for the unwavering pillar of leadership and support she provided to her cohort. As set representative, she consistently championed the needs, wellbeing, and progress of her peers with remarkable professionalism and empathy. Her ability to inspire collaboration and maintain a positive, solutions-focused environment reflected exceptional maturity and dedication. Academically, she demonstrated outstanding achievement, receiving the highest mark in the cohort.
