Hospice Grants Supporting Adults and Children

Keech Hospice Care in Luton are one of only a few hospices in the country caring for both adults and children, and their vital support extends to their patients’ family and friends too.

The last round of Grants from the MCF and Bedfordshire Freemasons awarded their Adult Hospice Service £1,440 and the Children’s Hospice Service £1,455

Keech told us; ‘The grant to the Adult Service will help us provide specialist care in both our in-patient unit and our outpatient services to adults who have a palliative condition and need support to manage their symptoms or require care in the last days of life. Our outpatient service supports patients with treatments such as blood transfusions, thereby reducing visits to hospital, allowing us to get to know the patient and their families earlier in their journey, and giving them the opportunity to access the specialist range of services and support we can provide.

The grant to the Children’s Service will help us provide individualised packages of care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Our care can be provided in the family home, hospital, school, or other community settings as well as at the hospice itself – wherever support is needed the most. Helping the child and family build memories and have special times together is always our aspiration.’
