Brotherhood Blossoms from across the pond at Thistle & Rose
Freemasonry is said to span the four corners of the globe, and this was beautifully demonstrated when the Anglo-Scottish Thistle and Rose Lodge welcomed brethren from the District Grand Lodge of Wisconsin, including the District Deputy Grand Master and the Past District Deputy Grand Master.
The meeting was bustling with activity, presided over by the Worshipful Master – Richard Gordon, the main event of the evening being the initiation of two new brethren into the craft. Brothers Osayomwanbo Usen and Oliver Waterhouse were warmly welcomed into a packed lodge room according to ancient custom in a superbly orchestrated ceremony.
The evening was further enriched by the official visit of Worshipful Brother Stephen Attwood, one of the Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, and his team. Adding to the significance of the event, Brother Peter Waterhouse had the honour of conducting his son through the ceremony.
The evening continued at the festive board, where the friendly rivalry between the Scots and the English was showcased in dramatic fashion with the address to the Haggis which was piped in, and the Roast Beef!
What a memorable way for two young men to take their first step into Freemasonry! Congratulations to Brothers Waterhouse and Usen; we hope you enjoy your Masonic journey!
