Birthday Celebrations at Wrest Park
Wrest Park Lodge celebrated the 80th birthday of their longest serving member on Wednesday March 12th when Mick Barton was treated to a surprise birthday cake at the festive board.
Mick is very special to the Brethren of Wrest Park Lodge. He was the lodge’s second initiate after its founding in 1973 and the first Lodge Initiate to be Installed as Master when he took the Chair in 1980. He is still very involved today, currently Senior Deacon and played an active role in the evening’s ceremony, which saw Rik Mannix being Raised by Lodge Master, Chris Edwards, in an excellent ceremony.
The dining room at Ampthill was well populated, with numbers swelled by a sizeable contingent of Manor Court Masons who had joined the Wrest Park celebrations for the evening. Despite an air of expectation and a couple of hints that something was afoot, Brother Mick was initially a bit coy when Keith Harford Davies paraded the special cake around the room as the Brethren sang Happy Birthday. However, after blowing out the candles he quickly overcame any reservations and joined in with the celebration.
It was definitely a night to remember.
