BEDA and the Provincial Charity Steward visit Local Hospitals
On a mercifully dry morning between successive rainy days, eight members of the Beda Chapter of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers escorted Provincial Charity Steward Steve Joyce on his Christmas visit to Bedford A&E and Luton & Dunstable Hospital on Wednesday, 17 December.
The Trustees of the Provincial Charity Fund generously donated a large quantity of Christmas treats, which was kindly matched by the Brethren of Beda. At Bedford A&E, chocolates were distributed to a full waiting room of children and their families before the Provincial party continued on to Luton & Dunstable Hospital and then to the Children’s Department at Keech Hospice.

Sarah Goodale from Bedford Paediatric Emergency Department commented:
“On behalf of the Paediatric Emergency Department, we would like to extend a huge thank you to you, the bikers, and Santa for visiting us this morning and for the very generous donation of tubs of chocolates, selection boxes, and bags of chocolates.
We were delighted that you were able to come in this time and have photos taken with some of our young patients in the Paediatric Department. They thoroughly enjoyed your visit and were especially pleased to receive some of the chocolates you brought along. Everything has been safely put away and will be shared with our patients throughout the Christmas period next week.
We hope you all had a safe journey on to Luton Hospital. Shortly after you left, a box of teddies arrived in Paediatric ED, which will be absolutely perfect for Christmas — thank you so much for that as well.
Everyone at Bedford ED would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.”
