A Fine Finish to the Fishing Year

Eleven youngsters from Keech Hospice in Luton had a great time recently when they were hosted for the day by Members of the Bedfordshire Branch of the MTSFC, supported by some guest fishermen.

The previous day was very stormy, but thankfully the wind dropped overnight and Tuesday 16th September was perfect, with everyone enjoying a very pleasant late summers day, with the fish biting well, in the lovely setting of Greensand Fisheries.

After enjoying a lunch of hotdogs, cheeseburgers, fresh fruit and homemade cake, all the youngsters were presented with medals and Certificates of Achievement before heading home.

The opportunity was also taken to present flowers and say thank you to the Lodge ladies who help on these days. There was a special thanks to Janet Goll who is stepping down after giving many years of generous support, making sure everyone is well catered for.

These days, organised by the members of the Bedfordshire Centenary Fishing Lodge No 9151 and the MTSFC team are very rewarding and really benefit the young people who attend. In preparation for next year’s events, the team are holding a fund-raising evening on the 29th October. Full details can be found by following this link.  Please support them if you can.

There is always a need for more helpers and fishermen to volunteer for a few hours here and there, so if you or your lodge members could support this good work please contact Richard Frood on 07712 542769  or email richardfrood@gmail.com for more information.
