Inspiring Installation at Roger de Somery Rugby Lodge No. 6488

Roger de Somery Rugby Lodge No. 6488 celebrated a very special occasion on 11th October with the Installation of  Mark Miles as Master of the Lodge at the Luton Masonic Centre.

Mark has been a member of the Lodge since November 2008, but his progress had been slowed in earlier years due to unidentified learning needs.

With the revival and rebranding of the Lodge under its new Rugby theme, it was recognised that Mark would benefit from personalised mentoring to support his Masonic development.

The Lodge’s Director of Ceremonies,  Scott Cheal, and Mentor,  Simon Barter, worked together to provide a structured plan and ongoing guidance to help Mark progress confidently through the offices.

Over the course of three years, Mark’s determination and the Lodge’s support culminated in his Installation into the Chair — the pinnacle of his 17-year journey.

Following his Installation, Mark said:

“I never thought that I would reach the Chair in Lodge, and it is only down to the dedication of the Brethren and the encouragement they have given me that I achieved my goal. To be part of a Lodge that is inclusive and does not exclude individuals with learning needs is truly amazing, and I am blessed to be part of such a Lodge.”

Mark now looks forward to a busy and fulfilling year as Worshipful Master, with an Initiation planned for November and a Passing scheduled for January.

Mark being congratulated by Hugh Love, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master.

The Lodge’s story is a wonderful example of mentorship, inclusion, and the true spirit of Freemasonry, demonstrating how commitment and support can help every Brother reach his full potential.
