Gables Hall Lodges Join Forces for Race Night Festival Fundraiser
On Friday, October 11th, four Bedfordshire Lodges that meet at Gables Hall, Linslade, joined forces to host a combined fundraiser in support of the 2026 Festival.
The event drew a near-capacity crowd of 90 attendees, who enjoyed an evening filled with fun, laughter, and excitement.
The proceedings were compered by Harry Goodwin of Beaudesert Lodge, with Steve Joyce, Provincial Charity Steward, providing an update on the Festival and assisting with the all-important cash count.
The Tote was run by enthusiastic members of the Gables Hall family, with the younger generation getting involved in managing the horses and helping to keep the energy high throughout the evening.
A highlight of the night was the unexpected “appearance” of the ghost of John McCririck, who bore a striking resemblance to Nobby Ward, a local farmer and four-times Master of Beaudesert Lodge. “John” brought his unique flair to the proceedings as he led the horse auctions before each race — much to the delight of those attending.
By the end of the evening, the total raised stood at an impressive £1,200, all of which will go toward supporting the 2026 Festival appeal.
A fantastic night was had by all — with thanks to everyone who helped make it such a success!
