Epic Walk for Charity and the Love for his Son
Lee Entwistle, a member of St Andrews Lodge that meets in Biggleswade, recently undertook a truly epic 41 mile hike through Bedfordshire Countryside in support of the National Autistic Society.
Starting from Linslade (Leighton Buzzard) at 5:30 in the morning of the 26th November 2022, Lee and his good friend Thomas followed the Greensand Ridge non-stop for its entire 41 mile length.
Due to the time of the year, a great deal of the challenge was completed in the dark and wet, along muddy tracks and across fields. Support, in the form of providing regular refreshment stops, was provided by another close friend James.

Lee and Thomas completed the hike in 14.5 hours and celebrated with a VERY well-earned pint (or 2) in front of a roaring fire at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Gamlingay.
In Lee’s own words “The walk was was the most mentally and physically challenging I have ever done, both of us felt physically and emotionally drained from the aches and pains during the last few hours which were in the dark and cold”. It was all worth it, as the society will have a little extra funding and hopefully more awareness.
Lee’s hope is to see his son get the diagnosis he desperately requires to enable the support he needs to realise a sound education, improvement socially, and to give him confidence at home and amongst his peer group.
The National Autistic Society is an important charity – especially for the younger generation, as the right type of support and help makes a great difference to the quality of education they receive.
To date, the walk has raised over £1,600 – to add your donation, please use the following link;
