Brother Christopher Alan Peacock
Dear Brethren,
It is with sadness that I inform you of the sudden passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother and Comp Christoper Alan Peacock PProvSGD (Herts) on 5th of August 2026 (71).
Chris was Initiated on the 25th of January 1986 in Layston Lodge L6699 (Herts) from which he resigned in 1997, and rejoined in 1999. He was Lodge Organist in the years 2005 – 2014, and from 2022 – 2026.
In 1990 Chris was a founder member of Godfrey Kent Lodge L9375 (Herts), he was installed as Master in 1996, and as Organist in 2002 – 2003 and again 2012 – 2026.
Chris was a joiner of Hertfordshire Masters L4090 (Herts) in 1997 resigning in the same year. He became a joining member St Andrews Lodge L803 in 2005, and was lodge Organist in 2010. He joined Bedfordshire Lodge of Benevolence L9288 in 2018, becoming Master for 2023 – 2024.
In 2020 he became a joining member of Bedfordshire Fishing Lodge L9151 as lodge Organist.
Lately he became joining member of Bedfordshire Lodge of Installed Masters L7301 in 2025.
Chris was Exalted in Royston Chapter C4304 (Herts) on the 1st of December 1988 resigning in 1997. He rejoined in the years 1999 – 2019. Chris in 2016 also joined St Andrews Chapter C803, he was Organist in the years 2018 – 2026.
His first Provincial craft appointment came in 2003 as PProvGStB (Herts), then promotion to PProvAGDC (Herts) 2018, in 2020 he was appointed PProvAGDC (Beds) in finally 2025 promoted to PProvSGD (Herts).
Chris was a truly excellent organist enriching meetings and ceremonies for many years and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Chris had been living with a heart condition and was awaiting a procedure. Sadly, he fell ill at home and was rushed to Lister hospital where he sadly passed with his wife and family around him.
He served Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire freemasonry for over 40 years in Craft and Royal Arch Chapter 37 years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Sheila and family at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card to the family on behalf of the province.
