Worshipful Brother Alan Clifford Vale

Dear Brethren,

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the sad passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother and E Comp Alan Clifford Vale PPrSGW on 23rd of September 2025 (92).

Alan was initiated on the 9th of February 1962 in Burton Court Lodge L3864 (London), he installed as Master in 2001, and then elected an Honorary member in 2007.

In 1984 he joined Biscot Lodge L8801.

In 1985 he was a founder member of Duo Fraternitates L9146, he was subsequently installed as Master 1989, and served as Director of Ceremonies  during the years 2000 to 2001, 2004 to 2006, and again from 2010 to 2014, serving as Secretary in 2012.

Alan’s first Craft Provincial appointment came in 1994 as PPrJGD, then receiving the following promotions in 2000 to PPrGSwdB, in 2006 to PPrGReg, and lastly  in 2013 to PPrSGW.

He was appointed to London Grand Rank in 1984 and to Senior London Grand Rank in 2006.

Alan was exalted in Earl of Court Town Chapter C7653 on 29th of December 1969, he was installed as MEZ in 1999, he served as Scribe E from 2001 – 2016 and as Director of Ceremonies from 2016 to 2022.

Alan was a founder member of Biscot Chapter C8801, and in 1994 he was installed as MEZ  then serving the Chapter as Almoner in the years 2007 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2022.

He joined Bedfordshire First Principals in 1986, and in 2022 he became an Honorary Member of Dunstable Chapter C6092 .

Alan’s first Royal Arch Provincial appointment came in 1989 as PPrGSoj, promotions followed in 1994 to PrDepGDC , in1999 to PrGSwdB, in 2005 to PPrGReg, in 2010 to PrGSN concluding that office in 2011.

Amazingly he served both our Province and London for 63 years in the craft and 55 years Royal Arch Chapter.

Alan was a dedicated Freemason, devoting decades of his life to masonry whilst being a wonderful husband and father. Sadly, his health deteriorated, and he lost his brave fight, and passed peacefully.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his son David and all the family at this very sad time. I will be sending a card of condolences to the family on behalf of yourself and the province.

Alan’s funeral details are as follows:
