A Fabulous Days Fishing with Bedfordshires Centenary Fishing Lodge

Twelve young people from the Chiltern School in Houghton Regis had a great time this week when they were hosted for the day by Members of the Bedfordshire Branch of the MTSFC, supported by some guest fishermen. This was the second event of the year, the team having previously enjoyed the company of ten pupils from Ivel Valley School, Biggleswade, back in May.

These events, organised by the members of the Bedfordshire Centenary Fishing Lodge No 9151 and the MTSFC team, are very rewarding and really benefit the young people with special educational needs.

Both days proved to be ideal, weather wise. They are held at Greensand Fisheries near Sandy which is a perfect setting, with families of geese and ducks on the lakes, red kites flying overhead and dragon flies in abundance. With the fish biting well, you couldn’t ask for more!

Before being presented with medals and certificates of achievement and heading home, all the youngsters enjoy hotdogs, cheeseburgers, fresh fruit and homemade cakes provided by Richard Frood and his helpers.

As well as funding the events, there is a need for more helpers and fishermen to volunteer for a few hours here and there, so if you or your lodge members could support this good work please contact Richard Frood on 07712 542769  or email richardfrood@gmail.com for more information.
