Worshipful Brother Robert Wilkinson

Dear Brethren,

It is with sadness that I inform you of the sudden passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother and E Comp Robert Wilkinson PProvSGD on 14th of April 2026 (84).

Robert was initiated on the 5th of August 1993 in John Hindle Lodge L9432, he was installed as Master in 2003 then as  Charity Steward 2005 – 2006, subsequently to Assistant Director of Ceremonies 2006-2007, and finally as Director of Ceremonies 2008-2009.

He was a founder member of Michael Sawyer Lodge of Reunion 2009, from which he resigned in 2011.

Robert became a joining member of Bedfordshire Lodge of Provincial Grand Stewards L9577 in 2006, he resigned in 2011, then rejoined in 2013, being appointed Organist .

In other Provinces he was a joining member of Shyre Lodge L9168 (Herts) 1997 – 2002, Good Neighbour Lodge L8378 (W. Kent) 1997 – 2000. Norfolk Broads Lodge L8368 (Norfolk) 2012 – 2017 and  Lodge of Unanimity (Norfolk) L102 from 2012 – 2026, Master 2017 – 2019.

In 2025 he became a founder member of the Motoring Lodge of Norfolk (Norfolk) L10065  and an Honorary (NS) member of Norfolk Motorcycle Lodge L10072 (Norfolk) 2025.

Robert was Exalted in Wardill Chapter C9432 on 11th of January 1996 (Chapter erased 2013), installed as MEZ from 2010 – 2012. Subsequently he became a joining member of Suffield Chapter C1808 (Norfolk) 2011 – 2026 and Bedfordshire First Principals C7301 2012 – 2016.

Brethren you will remember W. Bro Robert was an exceptional pianist and organist for lodges and Chapters he was a member. He was also guest organist for many other lodges in Bedfordshire and Norfolk.

His first Bedfordshire Provincial Craft Rank came in 2005 when he was appointed  PProvGStwd,  followed then by PProvAGDC in 2009, and finally  PProvSGD in 2018.

In the Province of Norfolk he was appointed to PProvSGD  in 2024 – 2025, and in  2025 to  PProvGSuptWks.

His Royal Arch Chapter appointments were in  Bedfordshire PProvAGDC in 2015, followed then in Norfolk to PProvAGDC in 2024.

Robert served Bedfordshire and Norfolk Freemasonry for 32 years in the Craft and Royal Arch Chapter for 30 years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card to the family on behalf of yourself and the province.
