Bedfordshire Golfers Compete for the Rose Bowl

Phew! What a day for golf. Wednesday, 14th June 2023  a total of 13 masons from 8 different lodges plus two guests met to compete for the Rose Bowl Trophy at the Chalgrave Golf Club near Toddington for a days golf organised by the Bedfordshire Masonic Golf section.

It was a really delightfully scenic and challenging course played under a very hot sun. The balls ran forever on the sloping sun scorched fairways but played somewhat slower on the un-cut greens.

The final results couldn’t have been closer with our secretary Alec Crump, of Harlington Lodge, winning on count back with 33 stapleford points followed by John Morrow 2nd,  and Guest Player Andrew Sims 3rd also on 33 points.

Nearest the pin on the extremely difficult 10th was the  captain Harry Lyons and the Longest Dive on the 3rd saw Stuart Allsop lift the prizes.

Being such a hot day plenty of banter was enjoyed with cold liquid being consumed in the bar afterwards prior to sitting down to a rather larger portion of lasagne, chips and salad to round off a perfect day.

Please note that all Bedfordshire Masons are automatically members of this Golf Section and are urged to dig out the clubs and come and join us for a day’s social golf with like-minded colleagues, whatever your handicap. Our highest h’cap player so far is 43.

We meet every month from April through to November at different clubs throughout the county, see the Provincial Web site at https://www.bedfordshirefreemasons.org/news/bedfordshire-masonic-golf/  for details .

The next golf day is at Pavenham Park  Golf Club  on Wednesday 5th July, do make an effort come along whatever your playing  ability and experience for a social days golf and to meet masonic friends.
