Bro John Patrick Mark Kennedy
Dear Brethren,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing to the Grand lodge above of Brother John Patrick Mark Kennedy on Saturday 10th of June 2023 (53)
Brother John was initiated on the 17th of November 2021 into Bedfordshire Lodge of St John the Baptist No 475, sadly Bro John had suffered for many years with a serious debilitating back condition and this made mobility extremely difficult, however the lodge secretary gave him lifts to meetings, Lodge of Instruction, and other events.
John lived on his own in sheltered accommodation where the staff commented that he was a perfect resident, polite and gentle man, but led a private life. He was a very skilful IT guru working for the local authority. Freemasonry’s fellowship was of great comfort to him and although he found it impossible to undertake floor work in the lodge, he would regularly attend Lodge of Instruction and when the recent new audio system was installed at Luton Masonic Centre, he found his lodge calling enjoying the title of “Musical Director”.
Bro Dave Griffiths kept in regular contact with Bro John, but the last few weeks hadn’t heard from him, so contacted the caretaker of the accommodation to find out that John had sadly passed away on the 10th June in hospital.
There are no funeral arrangements as yet, W. Bro Griffiths is meeting the family today who have flown in from Ireland, I will communicate any update in due course.
I am sure that you will join with me in offering our sincere condolences to his family at this very sad time, I shall be sending a condolences card to Bro John’s next of kin on behalf the Provincial Grand Master, executive and Brethren of the province.
