Beaudesert Lodge Meeting

At the recent meeting on 12th November, held at The Gables, Leighton Buzzard, members and visitors gathered for an engaging and informative evening.

During the meeting, David Tofield, gave an excellent presentation on the preparation of a candidate for initiation to the degree of Entered Apprentice, which was very well received.

Following this, Ian Church delivered a fascinating talk on Rudyard Kipling, with a thoughtful focus on Kipling’s friendship and collaboration with Sir Fabian Ware during and after the Great War. Kipling had sadly lost his son at the Battle of Loos in 1915.

Their joint efforts on the war graves project were instrumental in establishing what would become the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, shaping the way our nation and the Commonwealth remember the fallen today.

This was a particularly poignant topic, given the time of year, as we pause to reflect on remembrance and the enduring legacy of those who served.
