£40,000 Award Supports Vital Work of Luton Women’s Aid

Following the recent award of £40,000 from Bedfordshire Freemasons, Assistant Provincial Grand Master Steve Attwood, accompanied by Provincial Communications Officer Mark Harwood, visited the Women’s Aid Centre in Luton to meet the team and see first-hand how the funding will support their vital work.

The visit provided a powerful insight into the difference the award will make, helping Women’s Aid bring together a range of projects designed to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of the women and children they support.

The Centre is the hub of the organisation’s work, led by CEO Gaby Price. Gaby and her colleagues explained their individual roles and the wide range of support they provide, helping women and children rebuild their lives while addressing both their mental and physical wellbeing.

The team also highlighted the importance of the everyday essentials that can so easily be taken for granted. Items such as cutlery, crockery and other household necessities are constantly needed to help family and non family groups make the transition towards a better, safer and more independent future.

Steve and Mark were made extremely welcome and came away greatly impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone they met. The visit also revealed a fascinating piece of the Centre’s history – it was only the second Women’s Aid Centre to open in the country and has previously welcomed a visit from the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who was a strong supporter of its work.

The visit demonstrated just how valuable the £40,000 award will be, providing practical support for projects that make a real and lasting difference to women and children rebuilding their lives.

The planned next week press release, see this link, tells the reader more about the great work being undertaken.

The team would welcome the opportunity to visit a lodge or Centre to talk about their work and the practicalities of what they do, please just contact the Provincial Charity Steward who will be able to take this forward for you.
