Worshipful Brother Ronald Gilbert Baxter
Dear Brethren,
It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing to the Grand Lodge above Worshipful Brother and Comp. Ronald Gilbert Baxter PPrSGW on 22nd of October 2024, aged 91.
Ron was initiated on the 23rd of November 1966 in the Windmill Hill Lodge L5843 (Middx), he later resigned in 1988.
Ron joined Ampthill Lodge L2490 in 1970, he was Master in 1980, and elected an Honorary Member in 2012.
In 1983 he was a founder member of Manor Court Lodge of Ampthill L9096, becoming Master in 1984, and subsequently Secretary from 1993 to 2004, he was elected an Honorary Member in 2012.
In 1986 Ron joined Bedfordshire Lodge of Installed Masters L7301, he resigned in 1988.
Ron was Exalted into Ampthill Chapter C2490 on the 17th of November 1981, and in 1989 he was a founder of Manor Court Chapter of Ampthill C9096.
Ron was a big character in Ampthill and well respected. Ron gave 57 years to the Craft and 42 years to Royal Arch Chapter.
Sadly, Ron suffered from dementia, I understand that he was in hospital in Bournemouth where he passed very peacefully in his sleep.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Florence and family at this very sad time. I shall send a condolence card on your behalf and the brethren of Bedfordshire.
