Worshipful Brother Lester John Smith

Dear Brethren,

It is with sadness that I inform you of the sad passing to the Grand Lodge above of Worshipful Brother and E. Comp. Lester John Smith PProvJGW on 19th of December 2025 (80).

Lester was initiated on the 14th of November 1974 in Ivel Lodge L6846 resigning in 1984.

He joined St Johns Lodge L8817 in 1980, installed as Master in 1989 and again in 2012, resigning in 2023.

In 1988 he was a founder member of Bedfordshire Lodge of Benevolence L9288 and Master in 1996.

He joined Bedfordshire Lodge of Installed Masters L7301 in 1989 resigning in 2001.

Lester was a founder member of John Hindle Lodge L9432 in1991, resigning in 2000.

Lester was exalted in Russell Chapter C4413 on the 5th of February 1979, he was installed as MEZ in 1995 resigned in 2002.

Lester received his  first provincial appointment in 1994 to PProvSGD,  and then promotions in 2001 to PProvGSwdB,  PProvGReg in 2011, and finally in 2017 he was promoted to PProvJGW.  

Lester served the province for 51 years in the Craft and Royal Arch Chapter 46 years.

Lester had been suffering with poor health for some years but sadly passed following complications from a flu virus.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter Anya and the family at this very sad time. I will arrange a condolences card to the family on behalf of yourself and the province.
