Double Passing as Cumberland Visits Veritas

On Tuesday 20 January Veritas Lodge No 9108, which meets at the Ampthill Centre, hosted Cumberland Lodge from Luton.

The candidate that was due to be passed at the normal meeting of Veritas Lodge was unable to attend due to shielding, so rather than undertake a demonstration the Lodge contacted the Provincial Office to see if there was a lodge that had a candidate that needed to be passed that could be undertaken at the Veritas Lodge meeting.

With the Assistance of the Provincial Grand Secretary, Worshipful Brother Clive Walsh, an approach was made to Cumberland Lodge and they offered not one but three candidates for Passing.  After a flurry of email exchanges between W Bro Bill Henderson, Provincial Senior Grand Warden, Treasurer of Cumberland Lodge and W Bro Martin Wilson, Secretary of Veritas Lodge the meeting was all set to go with members of Cumberland Lodge filling the important offices for the Ceremony.

On the evening unfortunately one of the three candidates had to pull out but the members of Cumberland Lodge were entertained to the unique workings of the Veritas Lodge opening, including the Ceremony of Light, whilst the members of Veritas Lodge were entertained to a double passing.

Afterwards 32 brethren sat down to a Festive board of which the main course was traditional fish and chips with peas and the obligatory tomato sauce!
