Better late than never: 104 not out!
The St John the Baptist Chapter 475 was 100 years old on 4th May 2020, but sadly the pandemic lockdowns and other unforeseen events meant it was not until some 4 years later that the Chapter could formally celebrate its Centenary.
It was well worth waiting for and it was marked, in great style, by a formal visit from Nick Edwards, the leader of Bedfordshire Royal Arch Masons, accompanied by his Royal Arch Executive and a retinue of active Provincial Officers who assisted at a meeting that will remain in the memories of those attending for many years to come.
It was not just the presentation of the Centenary Charter and Jewels which will live long in the memory but also the recollection from E.C. George Day of the past rulers and officers of the Chapter, which brought much fun and humour to the occasion.
Grateful thanks must be recorded to the three Principals Hugh Love, Roger Shrimplin Clive Walsh, and Scribe E, Steve Norman ( secretary) of the Chapter for presiding and for all their efforts in making this such a memorable event in the history of the Chapter.
