St George & VE Day Celebrations at Ampthill Masonic Centre
Elstow Lodge No 8759 hosted a superb Sunday lunch at the Ampthill Centre this weekend, combining, slightly late, St George’s Day Celebrations with the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
With St George standing for “Courage in the face of adversity, to defend the innocent and ensure the triumph of good over evil”, the combination fitted together nicely.
The afternoon was very well attended with eighty-five family members, friends and Brethren of the Centre Lodges enjoying a traditional Sunday lunch, accompanied by some liquid refreshment, a lot of flag waving and singing along to some wartime favourites.
Everyone took the time to remember the harshness of WW2, pay tribute to the Heroes of that period, including some well-known Freemasons, who scarified so much.
The opportunity was also taken to raise funds for the renovation of the centre roof, with over £800 being contributed by the enormously generous attendees.
Thank you all for your support.
