Carers get a Break
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is a tough job that can take an emotional and physical toll. The MCF’s grants to fund short breaks for carers are a lifeline for people like Avril, who has been caring for her husband for four years now.
“John needs 24 hour care; I can’t leave him for even 10 minutes which means that I’m on edge all of the time. The MCF pays for carers to come in to our home so that I can take a break. It’s brilliant in that it gives me a rest so that I can stay strong.”
